- A screeded bedding course is normally 1 in (25 mm) and should not be thicker than 1.5 in (40 mm), because deep sand keeps settling under load.
- Bedding sand sits on top of a compacted crushed-stone base — calculate that layer separately.
- Joint sand is ordered from the manufacturer's coverage table, not from this volume result.
- Add 10 percent for screed loss, wind, and the sand left in the barrow.
